Meeting point: place Jasenak, 10:00 am. After a slow drive down the paved and unpaved roads we get to the mountain forest to start our trekking route. After a 3-hour-climb through an enchanting landscape we reach the climbers’ lodging and prepare the camp for the night. After a short break we set off to the nearby summits. We climb up the rope along via ferrata and by moving from one rock to another we reach the top. Rest and relaxation, with a breathtaking view of the landscape in front of you. Return to camp. Dinner.

Breakfast. Clearing off camp and equipment. Trekking through the mountain along one of the most beautiful hiking tracks in Croatia. It is almost unbelievable that every now and then a sight appears that is more beautiful than the previous one. We get to the shelter on the other side of the mountain that will take you by surprise when you see it. After a short rest and a lunch break we set off to the nearby rocks. A rather inaccessible terrain will provide enough fun with its vertical rocks torn by deep and wooded sinkholes and karst valleys.

VELIKA KAPELA – the mountain of the Gorski Kotar region, within which there are Bijele and Samarske stijene cliffs, is not a sole mountain range but it consists of a number of smaller and larger, sometimes lined up and sometimes scattered, ridges. The summits are about 1,015 m high and the highest is Bjelolasica at 1,535 m with numerous mountain valleys and small fields. The specific relief is karst (combination of dolomites and limestone) showing the most diverse forms of snow-white rocks, jagged and vertical cliffs reaching 50 m in height. They can be cliffs, towers, turrets, doors, cliffs, domes, chests, obelisks, fireplaces, tables, bridges and cones, furrowed by various grooves and mutually separated by countless cracks, rifts, deep clefts, where snow resides for the most part of the year. The savage beauty of rocks remains imprinted as a unique, unforgettable and inspiring experience.
