DAY 1
|
Arrival to island Brac, accommodation in old stone houses in
the centre of a picturesque
primordial place named Sutivan. |
DAY 2
|
Trekking:
Sutivan - Bobovišca luka – Bobovišca – Loišca
- Sutivan
Starting from Sutivan, over the St. Roko hill to
Junceravan plateau along the rocky roads to the arrival of an abandoned noble
family home in Sutivan.
On the way you will enjoy the surroundings of well maintained hundred year
old olive groves, partly thick pine woods and the smell of aromatic herbs and
spice plants (such as oregano, sage, rosemary etc.). Each season brings different
beauties, colors and smells. Continue with trekking on the way from where
the nearby
islands and mountains on the mainland may be seen. Arrival to the small village
of Bobovišca on the sea, the home place of the great Croatian poet and
writer Vladimir Nazor, where we’ll have a small break. From the sea a
climb to the inland of the island once again, on the way introduction to new
varieties of plants, arrival to the village Bobovišca, a place where it
appears as if time has stopped a hundred years ago. Our next location - Loišca,
which has the most beautiful church tower on the island Brac. The return to
Sutivan leads through the canyon named Veliki dolac (where the river Cetina
flowed in the older geological faze), over an old stone bridge, which dates
back to the monarch days of Austrian king Franjo Josip and then through olive
groves along rocky roads to our final destination, Sutivan. Duration: from 09.00

DAY 3
|
Trekking: Pod Gaul -Vidova gora - Bol
Van transportation to the old shepherd’s village
of Pod Gaul. The hike from Gaul continues through
the black pine woods to Trolokve on the mountain Vidova
gora, where cattle (mainly sheep’s
and horses) come to drink water. After that, a climb to
the top of Vidova Gora (the highest peak of all the Adriatic
islands) with a view
of the beach of Zlatni rat in Bol (Golden Horn) and the
surrounding islands like Hvar, Korcula, Vis etc. Picnic
break. From the peak (780 m) a hike along Vela staza (Great
way) to the famous tourist place of Bol. After visit to
the museum and botanical garden of Dominican monastery,
time at disposal for swimming, lunch or walk through the
town. Return to Sutivan by van.

DAY 4
|
Trekking: Dol-Škrip-Donji Humac-Mirca-Sutivan
Van transport to village of Dol. Dol is an old picturesque
place close to the coast town of Postira, where not much
is changed over last 100 years. After sightseeing of Dol, a climb at cca
200 m and arrival to Škrip which
is the oldest town on the island (over 3000 years old).
On the same place you can find ruins of Illyrians, Romans and finally Croats
who came in the 7th century on the island. Through the centuries people
learned to live here at stones and with stones fighting to survive.
Near Škrip
there are lots of old Roman quarries. From the stone of these quarries
slaves built the famous Diocletian
palace. After sightseeing of the town and museum of island
history, continuation through landscape of olive groves
and vineyards to Donji Humac village. There are still active
quarries close to Humac and we will feel the beauty of the
stone by the visit to the atelier of well known sculptor
Pere Jakšic. Picnic break. Trekking continues through
the landscape of olive groves to the village of Mirca, then
along the coast through pine woods forest to Sutivan.

DAY 5
|
Trekking: eenik-Blaca-Murvica
Van transport to the location of Vidova Gora, upon descent
you may view the southern part of the island along the picturesque
mountain
way with
interesting geological forms,
rocks and plants to see. These parts were till the beginning
of the last century full with olive groves and vineyards,
which is to be seen through typical stone terraces. Continue
along this road arrival to the desert Blaca, a unique cultural
locality on the island. Blaca is actually a monastery founded
500 years ago by Glagolitic priests hiding from the Turks.
Through centuries the monastery spread from a simple cave
shelter to a very important cultural and scientific centre
with a school for
children, a library with nearly 8000 books in 5 languages
and an astronomical watch-tower. Today it is a museum.
After sightseeing of the monastery
we continue through the canyon to the very heart of attractive
Blaca bay with its blue-green colors and with an invitation
for swimming. After
the swimming and picnic break, continuation of our tour
along the shady pinewood routes on the south coast of the
island to the village
of Murvica.
Return from Murvica by van.

DAY 6
|
Trekking: Pucišca-Lovrecina-Postira-Splitska
Van
transport to Pucišca which is situated in the
deep bay on the North-East coast of Brac. After sightseeing
of the town, a visit to the school for stone cutters, where
young people learn how to work the stone. Trekking begins
with the climb to a 170 m high hill, with its the ancient
Croatian church of St. Jure (St. George), the protector
of Brac. After a look we will descend to the coast and
that to the bay Lovrecina. Lovrecina is interesting not
only because of the ruins of the old Christian church from
5th century, but because of the attractive sand beach.
The strong north wind named «bura» brought
sand from the mainland from delta of the river Cetina.
After picnic break and swimming (depending upon season)
continuation along the coast way to the town of Postira,
known through the fish factory, and few kilometers away
to Splitska. This picturesque coast village was the main
Roman port for stone transport to Split. Return to Sutivan
by van.

DAY 7
|
Excursion to Hvar
Van transport to Bol. A boat trip to a nearby island, the
sunniest Croatian island Hvar. Our destination is the town
of Hvar, the town you will not forget because of its numerous
monuments and beauty (churches, forts, one of the oldest
theatres in Europe). After sightseeing of the town, the Fortica
fort, Renaissance theatre and Franciscan monastery with a
tour guide, free time at disposal for picnic break and swimming
(depending upon season). Return to Bol by boat and to Sutivan
by van.

8
|
Visit to Diocletian's palace and the old town of Split, departure
Van
transport to Supetar and with ferry to Split, a town whose
inhabitants call it with great pride «the most
beautiful city in the world». It is a city with vivid
Mediterranean spirit which lives for 1700 years. It began
when the Roman emperor Diocletian, who was originally from
these parts, decided to build a big palace (today under
the UNESCO protection). After sightseeing of the Diocletian
Palace and the old town with tour guide, departure for
your destination.

Important Information
Experience (difficulty) level
• Trekking days involve 4-6 hours per day.
• You don't need to be extremely active but reasonable standard
of fitness will allow you to make the most of it.
• All trekking days in this program are designed with the
beginner in mind.
• It is suitable for anyone who enjoys regular exercise and
is fit enough to undertake trekking.
• We'll often be far from civilization, so your general health
must be god, and able to withstand bad weather if necessary.
• This tour is lead by one experienced leader who's trek
with you, sorting out first aid needs and handling all
the trip logistics.
• If you have any doubts about your suitability,
please contact us.
TREKKING TOURS
• These trekking tours are designed as walking tours.
• The routs are not difficult and duration of walks is
reasonably short.
• Summer day temperatures can affect the level of difficulty.
• For this trip, any person in normal fitness condition
will enjoy the walks.
ACCOMMODATION
• Our base for this activity week is a Sutivan, small
town of original Dalmatian architecture, located
by the sea
of the northern-west coast of Island Brac.
• In this type of vacation, our price is based on twin
share accommodation in standard category. It means
that if you
are traveling alone in group, you will be required
to share with another traveler of the same sex.
• If you don't wish to share, single rooms can usually
be arranged at an extra cost.
• Accommodation is in the private old stone houses
in Sutivan and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
In
old traditional
Dalmatian houses in the centre of the town it is
possible that in some cases you would have to share
a bathroom
with another room.
• Also, in offer there are many of others possibility
of choices in different categories, like luxury rooms,
apartments
and houses.
• For special wishes, please contact us and we
can direct you to the preferred accommodation.
